Garden Press Event

Past Events

The fifth annual Garden Press Event was held in early February. This important and now popular show is held in association with the Guild's nominated charity, Greenfingers. Well over 70 key companies in the horticultural industry exhibited, unveiling the latest plants and products for the coming season. It was good to see many Guild members supporting the show, information gathering and busily networking in a very relaxed atmosphere.

The buzz around the show was electric with numerous topic of conversation about what 2010 will offer gardeners and garden writers.

This was the year that the Garden Press Event came of age. There was a fantastic turnout, both of visitors and exhibitors, and the Lawrence Hall was buzzing! Exhibitor numbers were well up, including newcomers such as The National Gardens Scheme, Back Door Shoes, the Ladder Allotment Company, Wyevale Nurseries and Beth Chatto Gardens; early visitors to this stand were given a choice 'in the green' snowdrop.

As well as writers and broadcasters, there were visitors from the All Party Parliamentary Horticulture Group, trade organisations and potential exhibitors for next year. All the major national newspapers were represented, all the gardening magazines and the BBC was there in force with researchers and presenters for many of its key local and national programmes. One of the highlights of the day, as ever, was the opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues, and we were especially pleased to see Dr David Hessayon and Adrian Bloom, both of whom are rarely able to attend our press gatherings.

Greenfingers would like to thank Guy Burtenshaw and the team at Uniquevents for organising such a successful day. There's no doubt it was the best yet!
